How often should I give my child cold and cough medicine?

Follow dosing directions found on the package carefully. If you have additional questions, contact your doctor. Do not use Triaminic® products in children under four years of age.

My child did not ingest the full dose of medicine. Should I give him/her more?

No. Do not give your child more medicine. Wait until the next dose, which could be 4 to 6 hours depending on the product, to give your child more medicine. Follow dosing directions found on the label carefully.

My child is under four years of age. Can I give him/her cold and cough medicine?

No. Do not give your child cough and cold medicine if he/she is under four years of age.

Are children's cold and cough medicines safe?

Yes. Children's cold and cough medicines are safe when used as directed. Always carefully read and follow the directions on the label.

I think I gave my child too much medicine. What should I do?

If you have given your child too much medicine, get medical help or contact a poison control center (1-800-222-1222) right away. Taking more than the recommended dose of cold and cough medicine can cause liver damage (if the medicine contains acetaminophen). Prompt medical attention is critical for children even if you do not notice any signs or symptoms.

Can I give my child multiple medicines?

Contact your doctor or pharmacist before giving your child multiple medicines.

Are there any potential side effects or adverse reactions from taking Triaminic®?

Like any product on the market, cold and cough medicines can have side effects. Therefore, it's always recommended to follow product label carefully. Were any Triaminic® products affected by the voluntary removal of Infant cold and cough products from the U.S. market?

Yes. On October 11, 2007, Novartis Consumer Health, Inc., along with other U.S. industry manufacturers, voluntarily removed Infant cold and cough products as a precautionary measure to avoid consumer misuse, including unintentional overdose in infants under age two. Specifically, Novartis Consumer Health, Inc. voluntarily removed the following two products from the market: Triaminic® Infant and Toddler Thin Strips® Decongestant and Triaminic® Infant and Toddler Thin Strips® Decongestant Plus Cough.

Does Triaminic® offer any non-medicated products to help soothe and comfort my child?

Yes. The makers of Triaminic® offer the Flowing Vapors® Portable Vapor Fan that provides 8 hours of continuous non-medicated vapor release.

Is it safe to use the Flowing Vapors™ Portable Vapor Fan from the makers of Triaminic® with other medicines?

Yes. You can give your child cough and cold medicine and use the Flowing Vapors™ Portable Vapor Fan at the same time.

What age does my child have to be before I can use Triaminic® Flowing Vapors™ Portable Vapor Fan?

The Vapor Fan is not for use with children under 3 months of age.
